Radio Jackie is South West London’s original and longest-running independent local radio station, broadcasting news, popular music, and vital local information to Kingston upon Thames, Sutton, and surrounding areas. Established in 1969 from its initial studio in Sutton, Radio Jackie has been a cornerstone of the community, providing a voice for South West London for decades. The station’s history is marked by pioneering spirit, strong community connections, and a relentless campaign for a legal broadcasting license. Radio Jackie’s influence extended beyond entertainment, supporting local charities like the Sutton Eye Hospital, Queen Mary's Hospital for Children in Carshalton, and the Royal Marsden Hospital through fundraising efforts. The station also championed local businesses, offering affordable advertising opportunities. Despite facing numerous obstacles, including regulatory raids and a prolonged battle for a license, Radio Jackie’s passionate following and significant community support were consistently recognized. Re-launched in 2003, Radio Jackie – the Sound of South West London continues to serve the local community with live local programming and news.
