WMSS: Your Central Pennsylvania Source for Student Radio and Local Sports Coverage – 91.1 FM Located in Middletown, Pennsylvania, WMSS is the student-run radio station of the Middletown Area School District. Serving the Middletown and surrounding community, WMSS (91.1 FM) delivers award-winning coverage of local high school sporting events, Lebanon Valley College football and basketball, and a diverse range of programming. Established in 1977 by Middletown Area School District teachers John Cooper and Jeff Johnston, WMSS began as a 10-watt station and has grown to a 475-watt operation. Currently run by student volunteers in grades 7-12 from the Middletown Area School District, alongside a dedicated faculty team including Faculty Advisor Brian Keyser, Chief Engineer Tim Starliper, Sports Director Steve Leedy, and Production Manager Dan Magaro, WMSS provides a vital link to the community. The station broadcasts daily from 6am to 9pm and relies on support from the school district, local businesses, and organizations.
