Located in Blackduck, Minnesota, 92.1 The River (WMIS-FM) is a vibrant American radio station broadcasting a top-40 Mainstream Rock format to the Bemidji area. Part of RP Broadcasting, the station’s history began in 1990 when Roger Paskvan, a passionate radio enthusiast with a background as a chief engineer at KNOX radio, launched WBJI Radio. After acquiring WBJI and additional stations, Paskvan secured an FM broadcast license in 1990, constructing the radio station above an existing two-way building. 92.1 The River began broadcasting in September 1991 with an oldies format, utilizing a 500-foot tower north of Blackduck.
