Manx Radio FM is the Isle of Man’s national public service broadcaster, broadcasting from its studios in Douglas. Established in June 1964, Manx Radio was a pioneering station, launching before commercial radio became commonplace in the UK. As a Crown Dependency with internal self-government, the Isle of Man was able to establish this unique station, though it secured a license from UK authorities with some initial resistance.
