Radio Kahungunu

Mission: To operate a Māori radio broadcasting service that will fulfil the Vision Show more Broadcast Area We broadcast a clear signal on AM 765kHz to Wairoa in the north to Porangahau in the south – encompassing Wairoa, Napier, Hastings, Waipawa, Waipukurau, Porangahau and Dannevirke. We simulcast a strong 94.3 FM signal to the Napier-Hastings urban areas. Listenership Over 20,000 people including: Ngāti Kahungunu, non-Kahungunu and non-Māori. A 2001 national survey by Massey University showed that 60% of all Māori in the Hawke’s Bay, listen to Radio Kahungunu. The national average was 50%.
