Radio América

Radio América is Honduras's leading radio station, broadcasting from Tegucigalpa since 1948. Founded by Sergio Castellón, the station initially operated on 1270 AM with six kilowatts of power. Over the years, Radio América expanded its reach through the addition of repeaters and increased power to 10 kilowatts, becoming the first multi-media radio chain in Honduras in the 1970s. Known for its innovative programming, including radio dramas like “El Derecho de Nacer,” and its significant role in promoting music and sports events, Radio América has been a cornerstone of Honduran broadcasting for decades. The station’s history reflects the evolution of Honduran media, adapting to technological advancements and consistently serving as a vital source of information and entertainment for the nation.
